Step-by-step instructions: How to use period underwear?

Do you want a comfortable and easy-to-use alternative to classic menstrual products like tampons or pads? In that case, our period underwear is made for you.

We'll explain below how Weekiss period underwear protects you and how to use it properly.

How do period panties work?

Period panties look like normal underwear. However, they have a membrane system consisting of several absorbent layers of fabric. This absorbs the blood that escapes during menstruation directly and stores it, so that you can rely on a pleasantly dry feeling despite your period.

Wearing period underwear: What to look out for?

Menstrual underwear is characterised, among other things, by its particularly easy handling. It is not much different from normal underwear. This makes it the ideal choice for all women who don't want to make everyday life unnecessarily difficult during their period and still want to rely on reliable protection.

Step 1: Put on your period panties

When your period starts, simply take your Weekiss period panties out of the cupboard and slip them on as if they were normal panties.

Step 2: Change your period underwear

Just like other menstrual products, you need to change your period underwear regularly. Depending on how heavy your period is and how absorbent your underwear is, you may need to change it once or three times a day. You can tell when it's time for a new pair of panties by the fact that your period panties no longer feel really dry.

Step 3: Rinse out your period panties

If you have the opportunity, you can rinse your period panties with cold, clean water from the tap after wearing them. This is not absolutely necessary after every use. However, it can help to ensure optimal hygiene. If you don't want to wash your period underwear immediately after rinsing, you should let it dry now.

Step 4: Wash your period underwear

Rinsing with cold water is not enough to clean your period underwear properly. For hygienic cleanliness, you need to wash your panties in the washing machine with the rest of your clothes. You can do this either immediately after wearing them or later. Weekiss period panties can be washed at up to 40 degrees with a colour or wool detergent in the easy-care cycle. Washing recommendations for other brands may vary.

Step 5: Hang your period panties to dry

After the wash cycle, it's time to hang your period underwear to dry. Because of the high absorbency, it can be helpful to turn the panties over once during drying. Make sure you don't hang up your period underwear and put them in your wardrobe until they are completely dry.

How many period panties do I need?

The number of panties you need depends on whether you want to use them as your only menstrual product or if you also want to use tampons or a menstrual cup. Apart from that, the amount of bleeding you have, the absorbency of the panties and your daily life also play a role.

If you wash your panties every other day during your period, you should be able to get by with five pairs of panties. However, if you are very active or have heavier periods, you may need an extra pair of panties.

Are period panties also suitable as postpartum underwear?

Of course, you can wear our period underwear not only during your menstruation, but also as postpartum underwear. In this case, we recommend that you order our practical Mummy Set with one Weekiss Classic period panty and two Weekiss Boyshorts.

Can period underwear be combined with other hygiene products?

Period underwear is often sufficient to provide reliable protection during menstruation. In principle, however, it is possible to combine period underwear with a tampon or a menstrual cup without any problems. If you have particularly heavy periods, this will provide you with optimal protection so that you can always feel safe in everyday life.
